Self-Employed Program
When you are interested in working as a professional athlete, businessman, or craftsman in one of Canada's provinces or territories, you might be able to receive an international business visa for yourself and immediate family.
To apply under the Self-Employed Program for business immigration to Canada, an applicant must show that they have the appropriate musical, athletic or agricultural expertise that has qualified them to be self-employed while living in their country of origin. In addition, to be successful in their application, the candidate must be able to make a reasonably significant contribution to one of these three areas through their relevant experience and skills in Canada. Canada 's National Profession Classification provides a full list of all the styles of occupations that come under these three groups, of which there is no exception for any.
To apply as an entrepreneur for this program, the applicant must have a net worth of at least $300,000 and should be willing and able to develop, invest in, or acquire a Canadian company that will generate or sustain jobs in Canada.
To Be Eligible for This Program, You Must:
Federal Self Employed Program
Using a point-based grading system to assess the eligibility of applicants for business immigration, the Federal Self-Employed Persons Program also requires applicants to have two years of relevant work experience in their field as proof that they can be gainfully self-employed in any province in Canada other than Quebec.
Quebec Self Employed Program
The Quebec Self-Employed System, very similar to its federal equivalent, allows candidates to demonstrate their ability to become effectively self-employed within their sector. The plan also includes a minimum net worth requirement of $100,000, and the intent to live in Quebec, as in all citizenship services in this province.
Provincial Nominee Programs for Self Employed Workers
When an applicant chooses to settle in a given jurisdiction, they can opt to apply under their own Provincial Nominee Program Self-Employed system. Every state and jurisdiction has their own collection of qualifying standards and qualification criteria, but there are also certain overlaps in qualifications that can be found with other sources of business immigration, such as years of experience and personal fund verification.
