Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot
The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is a community driven program and is designed to strengthen smaller communities economically. In this program, the participating communities take the lead in attracting and matching new immigrants with local job vacancies, promoting a welcoming community, and connecting newcomers with established community members and local settlement services.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible under Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Program (RNIP), prospective applicants must meet both IRCC eligibility requirements and the community-specific requirements.
1. IRCC Eligibility requirements
- You must have a qualifying work experience (one year of continuous work experience that is 1560 hours in the last 3 years) in one occupation but maybe with different employers and can be inside or outside Canada OR have graduated from a public post-secondary institution in the chosen community.
- You should meet the language requirements to prove that you can communicate effectively while living and working there.
- You must meet the educational requirements for the selected Job and provide educational credential assessment in case of foreign education.
- You must be able to prove that you have enough money to support yourself and your family members (even if they are non-accompanying) while you get settled in your chosen community.
- To participate in the Pilot you must plan to live in the chosen community.
- Besides these federal criteria, you must need to meet community specific requirements.

FIND A JOB
In order to participate in this Pilot program you need a valid Job offer from one of the participating communities that meet the following requirements:
- The job must be full time that is at least 30 hours of paid work per week.
- The job must be non-seasonal
- The employment must be permanent with no set end date.
- The wage must meet or exceed the JOB BANK’s minimum wage for the job offered as per national Occupation of Canada (NOC).
- Your experience must be in accord to duties listed in the Job Offer.
Once you can prove that you meet all the requirements of the Pilot and have a valid Job offer you can apply for a community recommendation letter that makes you eligible to apply for PERMANENT RESIDENCE under this program.
